In the quest for austerity , this sunday I decided to take a quick break and head out to the hindu temple at the small town of madrid just at the outskirts of Des Moines.
So after some careful planning, we headed out to the temple at noon hoping to catch up on the lunch buffet being served at the temple along with the desire to offer prayers and seek blessings. we were late evwntually. We thus missed the unique chance of having indian lunch for as low as 6 $.
Yet, the pleasantness that this plsce offered to mind is beyond words. The joy of finding most of hindu deitys in one hall all grandly decorated filled my eyes.
For someone like me who is used to seeing in preists of temples in minimum clothes, seeing one of the preists in warm winter wear with gloves and cap was something too hard to digest. It took me a while to realize this.
But I guess that's the way of life in here.
Certainly a nice place to find some peace, sanctity and also to network with other indian families living in and around.
